HISTORY

1930 Construction

The H&P Hostel was built in 1930 by the Bloch family as a boarding house and has since been operated as "Pension Bloch".

2012 New owners

After we took over the current pension in August 2012, we suspended operations from February 2013 due to a necessary extensive core renovation of all pipes, lines and radiators.

2022 New concept

The operation was resumed in January 2022 after many hours of work with almost all projects in-house.

Highlights of the renovation

In addition to many hours of often very strenuous manual work, the renovation has brought some highlights that we would like to show here briefly and with a little pride.

Clay walls in the bathroom and dining room

We have already had very good experiences with clay walls in other projects. We therefore decided to plaster the bathroom areas, guest toilet and lounge with clay.

The room climate improves noticeably as a result.

Exposing and sanding the entire wooden floor in the stairwell and the rooms

All room and stairwell floors were covered with screwed OSB panels and glued with carpet.

The floors were all painted over with the thick dark red-brown floor paint.

Refurbishment of the solid wood staircase

The entire banister was covered with three layers of paint, which we first removed with hot air and then sanded.

The steps were covered with a thick carpet and stapled in place.

Construction of a partition wall in the lounge made of wooden planks from a church roof truss

We pulled in the partition wall to structure the large lounge again. The larger, rear part of the room can now be partitioned off and used as a separate conference room or extended social space.

The wood for the frame and struts was made from wooden beams from a renovated church roof.

The wall-high roller door was made of new wood.

A well-equipped communal kitchen has been created

A well-equipped kitchen was important to us so that our guests had the opportunity to cater for themselves. Therefore we have a fridge-freezer, an oven, a ceramic hob, a dishwasher, a microwave grill, a toaster, a kettle, a coffee maker and much more.
